Specialty Areas

I offer both individual and family therapy. I am trained and use empirically supported treatments, meaning that research studies have shown the treatments to be effective. I possess expertise in an array of therapeutic approaches and tailor therapy plans accordingly.

My approach to treatment and areas of specialty are described below. However, I am able to treat individuals and families with other presenting problems as well.

Family Systems Theory

I am trained in Family Systems Theory. This theory focuses on the connectedness and interdependence of all family members and the various systems with which they come in to contact (school, work, neighborhood, community, society, and more). Using this framework allows me to understand the organization of families and see patterns present in families’ interactions.

Children and Adolescent Mental Health

My experience includes extensive work with children and adolescents struggling with various issues including: ADHD, behavior issues, mood disorders, trauma, medical illness, and anxiety disorders.

Problem Solving Therapy

Problem Solving Therapy (PST) is an evidenced based form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that I use that teaches individuals and families how to better identify and solve their real life problems. Additionally, this therapy improves communication within families. I use this form of therapy for a variety of presenting problems including families and couples in conflict, people working through anxiety and mood issues, and children and adolescents with behavior issues.
